Final Fantasy VII is quite possibly the most popular Japanese RPG in existence. With its compelling plot and distinctive characters, it has attracted fans across the spectrum. The game has been the subject of many fan works over the years since it's release, from stories and art to short films and costumes. More recently Square-Enix released a series of additions to the storyline, bringing the game back to the forefront of players' imaginations.
In 2004, Lynn Soboleski, a long-time fan of this famed RPG, learned of a program known as MtGEdit which allowed the creation of custom Magic: the Gathering cards. Tired of the current one-turn-win style of play prevalent in the current version of the game, she embarked on an ambitious project: to bring the world of Final Fantasy VII into the realm of Magic. What started as a tributary fan work quickly snowballed into a full and completely playable set of cards through the discovery of OCTGN, a somewhat awkward card game client which enabled players to use these custom cards in real matches against each other over a network.
Now, after two years of work and several hundred LAN battles' worth of playtesting, the set is ready to be exposed. Composed of 378 unique cards, complete with images straight from the game, this is truly a complete set of Magic cards. Nearly every creature and character is represented, as well as many of the memorable locations and events from the game. Whether you choose to assault your foe with Rufus Shinra and the overwhelming legions of SOLDIER, harness the inherent power of Materia, or awaken the enormous creature-constructs known as Weapons to decimate your foes, this set has something for everyone.
